Baldus Touch - nitrous oxide sedation process
GOOD TO KNOW: The mixer is used to add a percentage of medical nitrous oxide to medical oxygen. The patient remains conscious but becomes more relaxed and less anxious about the treatment. According to various specialist books and studies, nitrous oxide sedation up to a maximum of 70% nitrous oxide is minimal sedation with the aim of anxiolysis (solving anxiety) in the patient. It is not an anesthetic, the patient is awake, breathing independently and is able to react to external stimuli. In some patients, the sedative effect of 50% nitrous oxide is not sufficient. For this reason, in addition to the Baldus® Touch 50 device, which can administer a maximum of 50% nitrous oxide, there are also the Baldus® Touch 60 and 70 devices, which can administer a maximum of 60% and 70% nitrous oxide are limited. In this way, the trained user can decide for himself which maximum dose of nitrous oxide he would like to work with. The nitrous oxide concentration is individually tailored to the patient. The Baldus ® Touch 50, 60 and 70 variant is a built-in variant which can be used e.g. B. can be installed in the Baldus® All-in-One-Cart or in a plasterboard wall.
With the help of the O2 flush function, you always have the option of administering 50 to 60 liters of oxygen to the patient.
After the treatment, you can use the "Drain sedation' stop the sedation. The patient immediately gets 100% oxygen at the total flow you have issued. This recovery phase lasts 5 minutes, which you can also track on the display.
How do I properly bleed the Baldus Touch?
In the video we show you how to bleed the Baldus Touch. First, anonymous sedation is started. Then we enter the maximum N2O concentration at any total flow. Now the blue nitrous oxide bottle is first turned clockwise. We can observe how the pressure reducer is now slowly falling. The "Error message" Check N2O gas supply now appears on the screen, as is acknowledged.
Next, the oxygen cylinder is turned off clockwise. Here, too, we can observe how the pressure gauge drops and the "error message" Check O2 gas supply appears on the display, which is also acknowledged. The entire system is now bled. Now you can either put the device into stand-by mode or press and hold the on/off button for about 7 seconds until the red light goes out and the system is shut down.

The pressure reducers are checked during annual maintenance and all seals are replaced. We have different thread sizes to accommodate these can never be interchanged. On the left side you can see the N2O pressure reducer in the video and on the right side the O2 pressure reducer. It is important to pay attention to the N2O seal before changing the bottle let it rest for at least 10 minutes because it expands a lot.
How do I change the gas bottle?
This video is about the correct gas bottle change. For this you need the oxygen and nitrous oxide bottles shown in the video. The gas cylinders are provided with protective caps for transport. The first step is to unscrew the caps. The pressure reducers are then also turned on the gas cylinders on the connection provided. The nitrous oxide pressure reducer with the small thread, the oxygen pressure reducer with the large thread. It is important to only screw on both pressure reducers hand-tight. Both gas bottles are now placed in the car. On the right side oxygen, on the left side the nitrous oxide. Both bottles are secured with the belt against tipping over. The pressure hoses are then connected to the gas cylinders. Be sure to pay attention to the color coding. The blue pressure hose goes to the blue nitrous oxide bottle, the white pressure hose to the white oxygen bottle. To shoot, both wrongs are turned counterclockwise.
When is the gas bottle empty?
This video is about how full the gas cylinders are and when it's time to get new ones to order gas cylinders. A full oxygen bottle has 200 bar. You can always read the filling level of the gas bottle on the pressure reducer. A full nitrous oxide bottle has 50 bar. Nitrous oxide is a liquid gas. Therefore, the filling level of the nitrous oxide cylinder cannot be read off the pressure reducer.
A full bottle gives you approximately 600 minutes of treatment time. As soon as the display on the pressure reducer has reached the red mark, you still have approx. 100 minutes of treatment time. Now it's time to get a new gas bottle. We recommend that you always keep at least one nitrous oxide bottle in reserve.
